AG2R: behind the scene of a double-handed transatlantic race

Our agency of La Rochelle(France) is a long-standing partner of great nautical events such as the transatlantic race AG2R ,which this year will connect Concarneau (France) to Saint Barthelemy (Guadeloupe).

For each periodical issue of this double-handed transatlantic race (every two years), our teams handle the transport back from Saint Barthelemy to Marseilles (France), of the whole fleet of monohull. Not only does it spare the runners a second crossing by boat of the Atlantic, but it also prevents their boat to be damaged and takes them both in time to participate in races of the Mediterranean circuit.

This offstage operation is however capital and represents a specific and demanding work which consists in providing the loading and delivery on specially chartered cargo liner of the sailing ships and their specific equipment ; this requires particular care and expertise, like dismantling masts, loading in the holds and bridge of the vessel, etc.

On arrival in Marseilles, early June, our teams did again take the operations in hand and ensured that the sailing ships were afloat again or loaded on trucks as was the case. The monohull were then checked by their owners and ready to set out again towards other races.

The recurrent collaboration of SDV International Logistics with the organizers of great nautical races such as the America' S Cup, Road of Rum, AG2R, has granted us a unique expertise in handling from end to end all the transport and logistics operations related to the routing of the sailing ships and necessary equipment for the organization of these sporting events.
