An innovative project of tidal
power station in progress in Portugal
Our Portuguese Industrial Project Department organised the
transport of 3 turbines intended to equip a tidal power station.
The shipment of these machines is one of the first step of the
whole process to built an off-shore power plant producing a renewable
energy thanks to tides. It might help to produce 22.5 megawatts,
the consumption of 15000 Portuguese homes and should reduce CO²'s
emissions of 60000 tons in comparison with a classic power plant
of equivalent power.
These three first turbines were forwarded by sea between Stornoway,
in the Scotland (UK) and the port of Peniche, in the North of
Lisbon.
Each machine is 150 metres high and weights 700 ton. It produce
of 750 kilowatts.
To guarantee the operation success, our Industrial Projects teams
were present at every stage of the project, in particular during
loading and unloading.
