Done in 48 hours.
On June 6, 2006, a bulk carrier(*) ran aground
on the coasts of Karwar, in the south of Goa, in India. The hull
of the ship, broken by the rocks, let escape the fuel contained
in its tanks. An oil slick threatened the beaches and the ecosystem
of Goa.
At 5 p.m., local time, one of the world leaders in marine salvation
and environmental protection rescue operations called upon SDV
International Logistics in Singapore. 25 tons of equipment must
be conveyed as fast as possible to the site of the shipwreck in
order to contain the oil slick and to avoid the catastrophe. At
once, our agency did everything possible to organize this operation.
At 9 p.m., 4 hours after the first call, an Ilyuchine 76 was chartered.
The aircraft took off from Changi (Singapore) to Goa. On its arrival,
the equipment was delivered thus making possible to the rescue
team to achieve its mission.
48 hours of intensive and non-stop work of our teams in Singapore
led this operation from start to finish with a custom-made solution
for our customer.
