Industrial Projects : 4000
km for an unusual transport
This summer, SDV International Logistics organised, for EDF,
the transport of an alternator stator of 375 tons from the
nuclear power station of Saint Alban / Saint Maurice (France -
Isère) to the power plant of Penly (France - Seine Maritime).
To organise this operation, the team of Industrial Projects in
Colombes used important means.
On August 7th, the stator left Saint-Alban. The convoy, an hydraulic
trailer of 16 lines 3 rows 192 tyres, pulled by two trucks and
pushed by the third, took 2 h 30 to drive 7 km. When arrived at
the fluvial port of Salaise-Sur-Sanne it went on the Rhone by
ro-ro barge to Fos-Sur-Mer.
Arrived on the Mediterranean coast, a heavy lift vessel (110
meter long) awaited the heavy lift for a new trip, more than 5
days of navigation, to Dieppe via the Strait of Gibraltar.
In the port of Dieppe, we proceeded to the unloading of the stator
and the trailer. Then the ship geared at 2 x 500 T discharged
the long trailer followed by the impressive heavy lift.
Then, the convoy of 70 m of length and 7 m of width was escorted
by the police and took 3 hours for a 15 km drive. The routing
of the stator up to the nuclear power plant of Penly has required
some civil engineering as to enlarge the gate of the port and
to modify a roundabout.
On August 18th, the Industrial Project Department delivered the
stator after a 4000 km trip. An operation showing that transport
is an art.
